A loan helped to pay for forage for feeding the livestock and to purchase seeds.

Arsen's story

Arsen lives in Gyumry with his parents and has been engaged in agriculture for many years. Their livestock currently includes cows, oxen, calves, sheep, chickens and a bee colony. Near the village where Arsen and his family live, they own a plot of agricultural land, where they cultivate wheat, grass, and potatoes. Arsen and his parents work really hard to gather the good harvest, sell it locally and sustain their living.

Now Arsen has applied for a loan in order to enlarge his farm. He wants to pay for forage for feeding the livestock and to purchase seeds. Because the region where their village is located is considered poor, and the unemployment rate here is very high, people face numerous difficulties in developing their businesses. Arsen's loan has been approved within the joint initiative between SEF and Kiva, which provides loans to the underserved population of the Shirak region, to help them to access the market and earn a living.
