A loan of $350 helped purchase supplies for washing clothes.

Maria's story

Maria is 41 years old and lives in a rented home. She is a very kind and modest woman who desires most to improve her quality of life. Maria washes clothes, which is something she has done since she was very young because she needed to work. Washing clothes for other people was an activity in which she could earn money. She has been able to improve her living conditions and buy a few items to make life more comfortable. What she likes most about her work is being her own boss and managing her own time. Maria has been doing this type of work for 10 years and the most difficult part is having to do laundry in cold weather because the water is freezing and she has become ill on several occasions. In the future, she hopes to have a more stable business. Opening a grocery store is at the top of her list.

Maria is taking her fourth loan with MFP. She has been very punctual with her previous loans and hopes to do the same again with this loan. She is very responsible in the discussions that are held at her Communal Bank meetings. With her loan of 1000 soles, Maria will buy new scrubbers and buckets because her existing equipment is well worn.
