A loan helped a member to buy pigs.

Anna's Group's story

The Banc villageois that this group of 20 women belong to was inaugurated in April 2008. They mostly are engaged in small-scale retailing of various items. Madame Angèle, who is on the right in the photo, raising her hand, is the group representative. She is married, aged 45, and the mother of eight children of whom three are daughters.

Madame Angèle has been involved in her pig-raising business for several years. She intends to use her new loan to buy three piglets every three months and will resell them out of her home. The profits will allow her to help her husband with their daily expenditures and with covering school fees and healthcare expenses for their children.

In this group: Anna, Felicite, Angele, Moundaw, Mariama T, Marie Constante, Philomene, Marie Rosalie, Rita, Sira, Christine , Julienne, Sona, Makou, Fanta, Marieme, Binta, Banna, Kadidja, Nita
