Tamemgbo Group's story

These people are Abdulai K., Mahawa G., Kadiatu K., Fatmata S. and Alie K.. They named their group Tamemgbo, a Temne phrase meaning “let us just have a try”. These entrepreneurs have received several loans from SMT. The previous loans have had meaningful impacts in the lives of these people. The last loan they received from SMT was for Le 800,000 each. Now, they are requesting a loan of Le 1,000,000 each to enable them to further strengthen their businesses.

Abdulai K. (right) is the leader of this group. Abdulai is approximately sixty-two years of age. He was born in a village called Pat Bama, in northern Sierra Leone. He is married to a businesswoman and they have seven children. Six of Abdulai’s children are attending schools, five in secondary schools and one in primary school. Abdulai sells used clothes and has been in this business for over forty years now.
