Peng's story

Peng S., 29, is a married mother of two school-aged children and resides with her family in Takeo Province. To make a living, she is engaged in the business of manufacturing silk in a traditional way, earning US $2 per day. Her husband has to travel to the city everyday to sell silk for her and other local silk producers, earning US $3 per day, their combined income being the primary means of support for the family. Both Peng and her husband work hard everyday to ensure a good living for the family, and she is now asking for a loan of US $1000 to purchase more silk from the villagers to expand her husband’s business.
