María Auxiliadora's story

María Auxiliadora R. G. is a member of Dapreydi community bank in Tosagua, part of Manabí province. She has been married for 16 years and has two children, ages 15 and 30. María Auxiliadora prepares food; she has a restaurant in the city center where she offers breakfast, lunch, and typical regional dishes such as caldo de gallina criolla (traditional chicken broth), viche (thick fish soup with plantain), and seco de gallina (chicken stew cooked in a sauce of beer, onions, garlic, peppers, tomatoes, herbs and spices). She also manages the restaurant and employees an assistant. She has done this work for many years. Her restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the rest of the afternoon she does housework and prepares for the following day's work. Over the years she has gained many loyal customers. The loan she is requesting will be invested in her business for the purchase of food supplies and kitchenware, so that she can offer the best service to her customers. María Auxiliadora's dream is to own a space that is big enough to have her restaurant in as well as to venture into clothing and cosmetics sales, which are both very profitable businesses.
