Julia Vanessa's story

Julia Vanessa Rodríguez V. is a member of the Dapreydi Community Bank in Tosagua, province of Manabí, Ecuador. She has lived with her grandmother since she was very young and together they have shared many great moments. Her grandmother supports her in everything she does. Julia is studying preschool education at the secular university of Tosagua and even though she doesn't finish for a year, she is already putting her education to work. Right now she is caring for kids at a local nursery school.

Julia makes a living raising chickens. She has a small farm on some land a relative lent to her. She has approximately 50 chickens and hens, which she raises and then sells to the towns merchants. The process of raising the chickens takes three months and then they are ready to sell. She tells us that she feels proud of her business and she makes good profits. The loan she is requesting is to invest in the purchase of more chickens, as well as vitamins, food and other products to help raise the birds and expand her business. Julia's dream is to have her own nursery school, without leaving behind the farm that has been the source of her greatest effort and dedication.
