Lea R., age 27, is married and resides with her two children in Kompong Chnang province, Cambodia. R. has a business selling fruit, earning approximately $2.50 of profit per day, while her husband has a business of providing transportation services to people in the town and other nearby local markets in the province, typically earning about US$5 per day. He also rents big speakers, amplifiers, and sound mixers to people in his village when they celebrate any ceremony. Their standard of living has improved since they have had these businesses, so they want to take out a loan to expand their businesses. R. wants to take out a loan of US $900 to purchase more speakers and sound mixers to rent in order to generate more income for the family.
