A loan helped a member to purchase rice seeds, fertilizer, and cover harvesting costs.

Sang Group's story

Mr. Sang, 38, appears first from the right in the picture. He lives with his beloved wife and two school-aged children in the Kampong Cham Province of Cambodia. To support the family’s living expenses, he has grown rice since 2000. He typically earns around $10 U.S. per day. His wife contributes to the family’s income by operating her own grocery store.

Because of lacking capital for this farming season, Mr. Sang is now asking for a loan with a group of three members. He is going to use his portion to purchase rice seeds, fertilizer, and cover harvesting costs. With the profits from this season's harvest, he is going to expand his wife’s business, build a new house, and support his children to go on to earn a bachelor’s degree.
