Miguel Juliao's story

Miguel Juliao M. was born in Inhambane and he's 27 years old. He is married and has two children, a 5 year old and a newborn. Besides his children, he is not responsible for anyone else and is able to save 500.00MT every month.

Miguel has been working as a security guard for the past 9 years, and lives at his employers house. He makes 3.500.00MT per month. In the attempt of increase the family's income, he used his savings to start raising chicken at the piece of land given him by his boss, but while the land was being reabilitated, he had to put his chicken business on hold and started selling clothes from South Africa, like pants and shirts, as well as kitchen utensils. With summer coming up, Miguel has been getting a lot of orders.

This is his third loan with Hluvuku and the first with Kiva, in the amount of $375, to buy more inventory for his clothing business. The two first loans were used to start his chicken business. He is confident that he will be able to pay it back soon, and then ask for another one to finish building his house.
