A loan of $875 helped purchase two dairy cows.

Odilie's story

Odilie H. B. is 38 years old and lives with her husband and two children in the community of Las Nubes, which is located in Los Chiles in Alajuela Province. This area is in a mountainous region near the northern border of the country. The main economic activities are livestock breeding and agriculture, specifically the planting and harvesting of basic grains, sugar cane, and oranges.

Doña Odilie is a dairy farmer who produces milk and cheese in order to generate income for her family. She is very happy that her business has enabled her to move forward and help her husband with the household expenses and her children’s welfare.

Doña Odilie is seeking to obtain a microloan of 500,000 colones to buy two more dairy cows in order to increase her milk production. She knows that having more cows requires great sacrifice and demands more work. However, her desire to be a successful micro-entrepreneur and improve her family’s living conditions motivates her to continue working with great care and dedication.

Doña Odilie is a member of Las Nubes Community Credit Enterprise, one of the 100 partner organizations affiliated with EDESA in Costa Rica. This is her third loan and she hopes to continue growing personally and economically. She is grateful for these types of organizations and providers of credit who dedicate their time to productive activities.
