A loan helped me purchase barbeque equipment and grow my customer base.

Forrest's story

I come from a family of 7 kids. We didn't have much by material things, but what we had was appreciation, gratitude, and love for each other and Jesus. Sundays were special at the Murray House, because that's when almost every southern dish you could think of was being served. My father and mother instilled in us that giving was better than receiving. My father's cooking was a way to a person's "soul." People would speak words of my fathers cooking that I had never heard before. For 19 years, I had a personal battle with alcohol and many doors of opportunity closed in my face because of my addiction. Since 1997, I've been sober. In 2002, I meet a gentleman named Joe Alexander at the Reno Rib Cook off. Joe had been a participant in the Rib fest for 25 yrs. I traveled with Joe on the circuit willing to learn the equipment and how to cook for thousands of people. I started to get the fever. In 2008, I founded Blessing Food Ministries, supplying those in need with food donated from local store. In 2011 and 2013, I received the Marin County MLK Humanitarian Award. In 2013, I bought a smoker, but what I need most is a Santa Maria Grill to accompany the smoker. That way, people will be able to see the ribs etc. being mopped with lip smacking sauce and caramelized. "Eating Each Bite With Their Eyes" (Eye Candy)!!! My motto is FORREST FIRE BBQ: You'll Desire The Fire!! The same fire my Daddy had in his cast iron skillet. Main ingredients: Love, Prep Patience, and Consistency of the Fire. I want to share these second generation, southern style recipes with everyone so that they may experience the intoxication of Great Food for the "Soul"!

This loan is special because:

It empowers an entrepreneur to expand his BBQ business.
