A loan of $500 helped to pay for the education fees of her child who is in university.

Mao's story

A resident living in Prey Veng Province, Mao is 43 years old and married. She is the mother of three dependent children, one of whom is studying in university and another one is still in school. For her family’s living, she is growing rice and raising cows as her additional income.

Having been with her current businesses for 25 years, she can keep up about 3 USD per day for future needs. Her rice did not grow well this year so she could not sell it for as good a price as before. That is her main challenge. Mao just joined VisionFund for this loan cycle as her first time.

She is going to manage her loan to pay for the education fee for her child, who is in university, and a part of her loan will be used to buy a decent motorcycle to support her child to go to school. Via this loan, she wishes that her child can go to school on time and hopes her family’s business runs smoother than before.

This loan is special because:

It provides children from low-income families with greater access to education.
