The two people shown in the picture above are Mrs. Min M. and her husband. This couple has given birth to three children who go to school or work. Min M. retails fresh fish in the local market. She sells fish that she gets either from her husband’s fishing or buys from her wholesale suppliers and other fishermen. Min M. requests a loan as capital to allow her husband to purchase more nets, traps and boat machine in order to better supply his fishing activities.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
