Abena is 37 years old. She is married with four children, all of whom go to school. For the past four years, she has been a local manufacturer of palm oil, which is produced from palm nuts that undergo several processes. She produces and supplies the oil to food vendors, who use it to prepare their meals, and she even treks to villages to purchase the finished product when demand becomes very high. She wants to use the loan to buy more bags of palm nuts and barrels to store the oil, which will increase her efficiency by allowing her to produce in larger quantities.
In addition to her palm oil business, Abena also sells used clothing. She believes this will help expand her business and raise more income to support her husband, to provide food for her family, and to finance her children’s education.
