Mrs. Sarong Chhon Village Bank Group's story

Nineteen people who are all living in Andoung village in Kandal province is made up the village bank loan. Mrs. Sarong C. is a village bank president who has been selected the members and they all will use the loan indifferent purposes. She is a grocer who owns a small grocery store. Aside from this business, she is also a pig breeding. Since her breeding pigs business is going well, she wants to expand it by purchasing more piglets for breeding. Her husband, Mr. Lorn Khorn, is a farmer who owns 1-hectar field of land to cultivate rice. Mrs. Sarong C. is 52 years old and the mother of five children, three of whom are employed in a garment factory while the others are woodworkers. Four members in this group loans are end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. They are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva.
