Sumitra's story

Sumitra is a 33-year-old married woman from a small village in Khurda District, West Bengal. She engages in a tailoring business. Her household consists of four members and brings in a monthly income of 9,000 INR. She stitches clothes such as kurtas, salwar suits, frocks, dresses, and other garments. Sumitra wants to expand her business in order to increase her monthly income.

She applied for a loan of 40,000 INR from Mahashakti Foundation, one of Milaap’s field partners. Sumitra will use the loan to purchase necessary materials and cut pieces. She and her family are grateful to the lenders.
