Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Francisca Hortencia's story

Francisca Hortencia B. C. is 32 years old. She lives in Atiquizaya in the Department of Ahuachapán with her husband and her daughter Tania, who is a 15-year-old student. Francisca has had a business for 20 years in her home, where she sells clothing and footwear for children and adults. She also keeps a small inventory of fruit. In order to be able to increase her income, Francisca is now asking for a loan in order to purchase new merchandise for her business that would allow her to offer new styles to her clients.
