A loan helped my studio fund replacing broken equipment, affording new rental studio space and equipment for class, market for new students and train new staff for expansion.

Ashley's story

I am first a mother. This is the most important task I have ever set my mind to. When I began my business I wanted to create an environment that I would love for my daughter. Safe, healthy and inspiring. I also needed a career that I could feel passionate about and would give space to the demands of being a mother. I wanted to help my community, reach out to the demographics of children in need of the impact of art and expression and to do so in an encouraging and proactive manner.
When I started my business plan, I detailed down to the cost of every screw and nail. I worked three jobs pregnant and took my infant to business meetings. I was able to achieve all of this with no loans. I grew from one student whom I met while loading lumber onto a cart while wearing my daughter in a backpack at Lowe's to now over 162 students. I started in a 320 foot square storage room and have grown to now a 1600 square foot store front. I did all of this in 3.5 years. I dream of place where everyone is welcome, where everyone's abilities are recognized and where I can impact my community while supporting my family.
