A loan of $525 helped to buy wool.

Maruja's story

Maruja, 50 years of age, is a mother who has worked hard all her life to give her children a good start in life. She lives in her own house and what she desires most is to have a peaceful old age. Maruja has spent the last 25 years making and selling artisan handicrafts. Her business is located in Explanada Laguna Temporal, an extremely commercial area where fairs are held in the city of Juliaca. She is convinced that the variety of her products increases her sales, and consequently improves her quality of life. What she likes best about her work is knitting, this puts her in a good mood. But what she thinks is most difficult is having to remain in her shop from Monday through Saturday, and then going out on Sundays to sell her work. That doesn't leave her much time to do other things that she enjoys. She hopes that in the future her business will grow and provide her with a better income.
Maruja has now received four loans from Microfinanzas Prisma. She has been very punctual with her payments and has never had any problems with her communal bank where she is in charge of setting the payments and the other members have been very happy with this. The 1,000 New Sols she is requesting will be used to buy wool to produce more knit goods and to build up her inventory of garments.
