Nyame Bekyre Group's story

Matilda is 28 years old trader; she is divorcee and mother with four children. Her children are currently in the school. She trades in tubers of yam, maize,cassava etc. on top of table in the local market where she lives. She says through this business, she has endeavored to support her children in school. She requests for the loan to enable her buy increased stock of yam, cereals like maize, vegetables etc. to grow up her business to scale up the business progress. She hopes to increase her savings to support the child education to give him future and hope.

She is the leader of a trust bank group called ‘Nyame Bekyre’. She is the one sitting in the group photograph. Most of the members of this group are petty traders, food vendors etc. In this group, members guarantee for one another as social collateral to access the loan and peer pressure to repay the loan.
