A loan of $250 helped purchase candy for resale.

Vanessa Lizeth's story

Vanessa is 22 years old and lives with her husband and two year old son in the village of La Zaranda in the district of Pitipo, which is located 45 minutes away from the city of Chiclayo.

Her husband currently works as a laborer, but his income is not enough to support their entire family. She started selling food a year ago at the local high school.

Every day, Vanessa wakes up early to prepare the food she sells – traditional sweets and other snack items. During recess, she sets up her vending post in the schoolyard patio. Students wait with great expectation for her to arrive and start selling her products.

She wants to finish the construction of her house. One time, she bought a computer for the students to help them with their research. Vanessa knows that she has to keep working at her business in order to achieve her goals. For this reason, she is requesting her first loan from our Institution in the amount of 700 soles so that she can buy candy to sell to the students.

Vanessa is well known in the community and is considered to be a responsible woman. Therefore, the local school authorities have entrusted her with selling food to the students.
