A loan of $675 helped products for a small home-based restaurant business; drinks and other items to sell at a discoteque.

Laura's story

Laura is 41 years old and is married with four children. Laura and her husband run a discotheque called “Pili’s.” Laura also has a business selling cooked foods typical of the region in front of her home in the evenings. Laura’s husband is an environmental engineer specializing in forestry. Laura helped pay for him to get his degree. Because he could not find work in his chosen field, Laura’s husband now dedicates himself full time to running the bar/discotheque that the family owns next door to their home.

Laura has been working with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for ten years and is a member of the communal bank “Virgen de la Natividad.” She plans to invest this loan of 2,000 soles in her family’s discotheque as well as in her food sales business.

Laura’s goal is to eventually have her own restaurant offering typical regional dishes.
