Ardimdin Group's story

These people are Abu K., Aminata K., Hassan K., Fatmata S., and Aminata T.. They named their group Ardimdin. They are small-scale businesspeople and also farmers in Masorie village, about thirteen miles from Makeni. They are each requesting a loan of Le 500,000 to help them expand their businesses.

Abu K. is the leader of this group. Abu was born in Masorie village about twenty-six years ago. He is married to a businesswoman and the two of them have two children, two and four years old. Abu sells palm oil (the most popular cooking oil), cassava, potatoes, and any other vegetables he can lay hands on. He buys in Masorie and the surrounding villages and sells in Freetown. In Freetown, he would buy items like rice, sugar, flour, “Maggi” (used in making sauces) and these he sells in Masorie village. Abu has been in business for over ten years now.
