A loan of $325 helped to buy merchandise to build up her business.

María Cecilia's story

María is 30 years old and lives together with her husband and their two children, six and two years old, in her father's house in the Ciudad Eten District which is located about 25 minutes from the city of Chiclayo. Nine years ago her mother created a store in her house and when she died, a year and a half ago, it fell to María to take charge of the business and also to take care of her elderly father. Since then she's known how to get ahead and she's selling groceries, fruits, school supplies and clothing there. Her husband is a taxi driver (since chauffeur-driven motor vehicles are widely used to transport goods and passengers). They both need to work in order to provide for their family's daily needs. María wants to work as hard as she can now that her children are still small in order to provide them with a good education, and in the future, to give them the opportunity to study a professional career. She also wants to provide a better quality of life for her father. That's why, for the first time, she is seeking a loan of 900 New Sols from Edpyme Alternativa which she wants to use to buy more merchandise in order to build up her business. María is a person who is well-regarded by the neighbors in her area. They consider her to be a very responsible woman who is devoted to her family.
