A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase a cow to raise.

Maria Martha's story

Martha is a young, 37-year-old mother. She lives in a rural community five kilometers from Otavalo. She has two daughters. Her husband abandoned them eight years ago. From that time on, she knew that she had to struggle on her own so that her daughters could have everything they needed. There have been very hard times, but for her, there are no obstacles that she can’t overcome given that she is a very persistent person.

Her biggest dream is that her daughters finish a university education, so they don’t have to go through hard times like she did. Having her family at a young age, it wasn’t possible for her to finish school. That is why she works raising small animals, such as pigs and guinea pigs. These animals are the sustenance of her family. Her daily life is to fulfill her role as mother and small businesswoman. She has had to organize her time well since she must get up early every day to send her daughters to school and then work taking care of her animals.

For now, her desire is to purchase a cow in order to also produce milk. For that reason, Martha is requesting a loan to acquire a cow. It will allow her to increase her family income that she needs so much.
