A loan of $550 helped purchase construction materials for brick home.

Elisa Alberto's story

She was born in the providence of Gaza. She is 31 years old and the mother of a son who is 5 years old. She finished her secondary education in teaching, and besides her son she also support 2 nieces who live in their home. She does not live with her husband (father of her son).

She left the providence of Gaza when she was 20 and moved to Namaacha (the center of basic teacher training) and after completing that she went to the next level at the Institute of Primary Teachers in the city of Matola in 2001.

Right now she is working as a teacher in a school in the town of Boane. She left Gaza alone. She receives a monthly salary of 6,142MT which she uses to sustain her family and pay her debts. She has never had a loan through another bank and this is her second loan with Hluvuku (first with Kiva) in the amount of 14,000MT.

She intends to purchase construction materials to work on her home. She is going to cover a part of the home with brick. The first loan for 12,000MT was also used for the same activity. Her dream is to see her home finished to comfort her family (son, nieces, and future children) and so she intends to pay off the loan without problems. This way she can receive more loans and maintain her reputation.
