Pilar's story

Pilar S. is from the village of Baluarte, Lumbia Cagayan de Oro City. She is 42 years old. Pilar is married and has 5 children. To make a living, Pilar owns and operates a specialized retail store. The main source of income for the business comes from selling firewood in the local community. Pilar has been engaged in her business for over 5 years and earns approximately 1,500 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2008, Pilar joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Pilar has successfully repaid a previous loan of 8,000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to to purchase more inventory. Pilar is requesting a new loan of 11,000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. This will be the 3rd loan taken out by Pilar from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.
