Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Elisabeth's story

Elisabeth was born around 1960 in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin. Elisabeth is married to Gabriel, a commercial agent. Elisabeth is the mother of three children. With her husband, Elisabeth provides for her family. Elisabeth sells manioc flour, smoked fish, and sauce condiments, all at her house. Elisabeth has gained fifteen years of experience in this business. Elisabeth has already received four loans through ALIDÉ (one of Kiva's field partners) for her business; these loans were all repaid properly. Elisabeth is seeking a fifth loan to generate large stockpiles of her products.
