A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase school uniforms and bales of used clothing.

Rosa Maria's story

Rosa M. is 41 years old, married, living with her family in the Sabana Grande neighborhood of Managua. Her husband works for a private enterprise and they have two children: a 12- and an 18-year-old, who are in secondary school. She sells used clothing, a business she has been involved with for the past 16 years and which earns her funds with which to help pay household expenses. She began with her own savings as well as loans that have allowed her to maintain her sales. This is her 8th cycle with Afodenic and she intends to use these funds to buy wholesale bales of used clothing as well as school uniforms since Nicaragua's national holiday is fast approaching and this is when parents traditionally purchase school uniforms. She hopes to have her own store and thanks the institution for the growth attained to date which has allowed her to keep her client base and earn profits that have helped her meet her personal needs.
