A loan of $1,500 helped a member to buy fertilizer and organic pesticides for her cashew farmland.

Phally's Group's story

Living in a rural area of Kampong Cham Province, Phally is 21 years old and a mother of three children, two of whom are now in school. For three years she has grown and sold cashews as part of her family’s business and does work as a laborer for others for extra income. From her earnings she saves about 5 USD daily.

Phally has taken out and successfully repaid a previous loan through Kiva's field partner VisionFund Cambodia. As a result her family’s life has improved. Now she is leading a group of three members to applying for a 6,000,000 KHR loan to be divided among them. Phally will use her portion to buy fertilizer and organic pesticides for her cashew farmland. She hopes to increase its yield so she will obtain greater profits. With them she will be able to improve her family’s life further and support her children in their studies.
