A loan helped to purchase a new laptop to facilitate her work and increase her number of students.

Layale's story

Layale is a 24 years old Lebanese married woman and mother of two school-aged children. Her husband is the main income provider in the family. He is a soldier in the Lebanese army, but his income is barely sufficient, due to the bad financial situation in the country and the fact that the school fees are too expensive.

Layale decided to support her husband, so she started her business in 2016 from her home as a private teacher. She receives her students in a small room and helps them to pass the school year.

Today, she is asking a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. to purchase a new laptop, which will facilitate her work and increase her number of students. She said that this loan will surely help to improve her work and income so she will be able help her husband and pay her children school fees.

This loan is special because:

It empowers women in a country where most businesses are owned or run by men.
