A loan helped me become financially independent by growing my Salvadorean food business.

Maria's story

My name is Maria Sorto and I came from El Salvador. I came to the United States three years ago on April 27th 2014. I would say that the biggest challenge coming here has defineteley been the language and the lack of education and access to an steady income.
Since I came here I have had to take many jobs at the same time just to make ends meet and provide for my family.
I am married and have two children. One 16 years old and the other is 11 years old.
My dream is to have a steady income and with hard-work, patience and your help with this Kiva loan I am going to achieve that.

This loan is special because:

It helps a women from El Salvador to continue to sell delicious pupusas in Oakland
