A loan of $625 helped a member to buy compost and sacks of fertilizer for his coffee crop.

G.s. Guanaspal Group's story

Simeon is 58 years old and married with four children. He lives in a village in the municipality of Gracias, Lempira. For more than 13 years, he has grown coffee, which he does on his own property. He sells his coffee crop via intermediaries in the area.

The loan that he requests is the first with the institution, and it is a group loan, which will be used to buy compost and sacks of fertilizer for his crop. He plans to increase production and generate more income from his coffee farm.

The group is called G.s. Guanaspal, which includes four members who live in the same community and work growing coffee. The group loan is for 14,500 Lempiras and they will use it to fertilize the coffee farm. In the photograph are, from left to right, Fernando, Jose, Simeon, and Roberto.
