A loan of $350 helped buying new instruments.

Edith's story

Edith is a very happy 39 years old woman. She lives in her own house with her two children: Diego, age 12 and Maycol, age 10, who are the motivation behind all her efforts.

From the time she was small, Edith learned to love music. With the help of her parents she learned to play the accordian and now she is one of the founders of the folk music band "Santa Catalina Juliaca." Every year at Carnival, the people of Juliaca are delighted by the beautiful music they play.

What she enjoys most about her job is playing with her group and walking through the streets demonstrating her art and twenty years of playing puneña music (music from Puno, Peru). She believes the biggest challenge is having to play multiple days in a row-- they often have a large number of bookings and she is not able to get the rest she needs.

She hopes she will eventually be able to record a record and her group will become more well known. This is Edith's first loan with MFP and she is ready to pay all her dues on time so she can take out another loan later. In her village bank she is one of the most beloved members because she is always happy. With the loan of 1000 soles that she is asking for she will buy new instruments, which will make her band sound better.
