Mrs. N. lives in Nghe An, a rural province in northern central Vietnam. She is 40 years old and married. Her husband is a fisherman and works for a local cooperative. Her two daughters, 20 and 18, are both at university in Hanoi. For 3 years she has been a member of TYM. Before joining TYM she had a profit of $1.25 per day, but with the loans she was able to invest more in her shop and her profit nowadays is $6.25 per day. She wants to sell beer in her shop, but her storage room is open and too hot, so she will use the loan to erect a roof.
