A loan of $575 helped purchase and sale of car tires.

Geraldo Francisco's story

Geraldo Francisco C. was born in the Zavala province of Inhambane. He is 38 years old, married, and is the father of 2 children who are 9 and 13 and both attend school. Aside from his own family, he also supports 3 nephews. He studied until the 6th grade but had to stop because of the war. He lives with his family in his own home.

Geraldo left Zavala for Maputo with his family when he was 16 to take refuge from the civil war that ended in 1992. He arrived in Maputo and worked with his cousin as a driver for a tram for 10 years. Later on he found a job with the gas station Petromoc (Petroleum of Mozambique) where he continues to work today.

Aside from this work and as his monthly salary is 5.000,00MT, with which he supports his family, he has a business selling tires. He buys the tires at 1.350,00MT and sells them for 1.950,00MT and he earns a good return which he saves in the bank.

He has never taken out a loan with another bank and this is his 4th loan with Hluvuku-Adsema in the amount of 15.000,00MT to buy and sell the tires and other accessories. He learned of the institution through his friends and neighbors who are also clients. The first loans he took were used for the same purpose and were for the amounts of 7.500,00MT, 15.000,00MT, and 25.000,00MT, respectively.

He plans to pay back the loans without problems to be able to have access to more loans to finance his dream of improving his services, constructing a conventional establishment, including a car wash.
