A loan helped to fulfill his daughters' dream home by building a proper roof that will provide shelter for his daughters and protect a home that has taken 12 years to build.

David's story

David lives in Atlocomulco, a rural area a couple hours away from Mexico City. In this photo we can see him with his partner, Estuolia, and their daughters Monsterrat and Alondra.

David is really proud of his daughters. They say that when they grow up they want to go to college, and the youngest, Alondra, says she wants to be a doctor. David fills with pride when he hears this since he did not have the opportunity to finish middle school and would love to make his daughters' ambitions true.

David is a self-employed construction worker who does jobs in his town and neighboring communities. He and Estuolia have worked hard to give their daughters a good life. They have saved and built together what they have today.

All their savings are at peril since the rainy season is about to start in the summer, and the roof is still not finished. Some parts are still tin roof, and it is not sealed for waterproofing, which puts at risk all their belongings.

David and Estuolia have informal jobs, which makes it very hard to access credit from other institutions. With this credit, David will receive the amount necessary to finish the roof and waterproof it so they can be prepared for the rain.

David and Estuolia feel lucky to have this opportunity. They will be able to finish their dream house, stop irreparable damage to their home and give their daughters a house they can grow in and fulfill all their dreams, even their college dreams!
