A loan helped a member purchase bags of cereals to retail later.

Danaya Group's story

Karim is the man with his hands on the bag of cereals in the picture. He is from Mali, and has never gone to school. At forty-one, he is married and has eight children. They are between the ages of one and twenty; one of them is currently in school. His wife is a homemaker who also retails groundnuts at the market.

Karim is a buyer for cereals. He is contracting this loan with RMCR to purchase many bags of cereals such as millet, corn, groundnuts, and rice. He stocks up at local fairs and resells there too. He has been in this business for over ten years. Each sale brings in about 12,500 XOF in profit. The income he makes allows him to provide for some of his family’s needs.

In the future, Karim would like to contract a larger loan so he can grow his business and build a permanent house for his family.
