Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Kivulini Group's story

Hidaya P., age 49, is married with four children ages 30, 27, 18, and 14. She has had a stationery shop since 2007. She works from 8 am to 7 pm daily and is able to earn a monthly profit of about US$ 151.

This will be Hidaya’s second loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to start selling drinking water wholesale and has paid the loan back successfully. She now hopes for a new loan to expand the stationery shop.

Hidaya will share this loan with her group Kivulinii which totals 16 members. These members hold each other accountable in paying back their loans. In the picture, Hidaya is 4th from left back row.
