Mrs. Sokheng Toch Village Bank Group's story

Twenty people who live in Slab Ta Aon village in Kandal province have formed a village bank. The bank president, selected by the members, is Mrs. Sokheng T.. All the members will use the loan for different purposes.

Mrs. Sokheng T. owns a small grocery store in the village. Since this business is going well, she plans to expand it by seeking a loan to buy more grocery goods for her current business. She hopes to increase her income in order to provide better living conditions for her family. Her husband, Mr. Kham Sokhom, is a construction worker who makes a small income to support the family. Mrs. Sokheng T. is 36-years old and the mother of four children one of whom is employed in a garment factory while the others are attending the local school.
