Jose Luis is 32 years old and single, but lives in a free union with the mother of his 4 year old child, who currently attends preschool. He stays at his parents' house in a small room in the garage. He wants to take out the main doors and raise the walls so there is room to construct a door that leads directly to the street as well as seal the door that connects his quarters to those of his mother's in attempt to try and make his family more independent. Jose Luis' biggest dream is to be able to have a place where he can be near his family, their basic living conditions are met, and that his son grows up in a happy environment.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
