A loan of $775 helped to buy: canned tomatoes, liqueurs, drums of vegetable oil, pasta, canned milk, and soaps for the laundry, dishes, and bath.

H. Eliane's story

Eliane was born on January 2, 1972 in Cotonou, the economic capital of the Republic of Benin. She is married and the mother of three. Eliane has never attended school. Eliane was placed with one parent at a young age. She helped this parent to sell food and other heavily-consumed goods. After she was married, Eliane started off on her own selling sundry items: candies, cookies, canned foods (milk, sardines, tomatoes), sugar, pasta, soaps for the laundry, dishes, and bath, batteries, candles, etc. She is on her fifth loan with ALIDé and is requesting it in order to bolster her business and to respond better to the demands of her customers.
