Lucy's story

Lucy is 46 years old and married with 4 children. She lives in a rural area beside Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.



She runs a small food sewing business where she used to sew ladies blouses, clothe hangers and children's wear and sells them in he market to earn a living. She has been doing this for 2 years.



With her previous loans, she was able to start up her business.With the help of ongoing guidance and training from the SPBD staff on how to run a small business, she was able to earn good income and her business is progressing well.

Lucy is now requesting a new loan to buy a new sewing machine, packets of cotton threads and needles, rolls of plain cloth materials and sewing machine oil for her sewing business. She plans to use her profits to help her children financially and continue the success of her business.

She joined SPBD in 2015 to gain access to financial services.
