A loan of $250 helped to buy canned milk, sardines, and tomatoes; sugar, soaps, and school supplies.

Aïtchatou's story

Aïtchatou was born around 1950 in Pobè in Ouémé county, in southern Benin. She never went to school. From a young age, she helped her mother with selling staple goods. After her marriage, Aïtchatou started off on her own, though with selling sundry items: candies, cookies, canned foods (milk, sardine, tomatoes), sugar, pasta, soaps for the laundry, dishes, and bath, batteries, candles, etc. She lives in Cotonou, the economic capital of the Republic of Benin and is on her fifth loan with ALIDé. She is requesting this loan to increase the volume of her business, which has been experiencing a problem with stagnation for quite awhile.
