A loan of $1,550 helped a member to buy sheep to resell.

Kanouya Ton Group's story

Setou is the woman presenting the ram to the members of the group. She is a Malian woman, 34 years old. She lives in a rural area with her farmer husband and her four children (two boys and two girls) including a girl in school. She never attended school. Setou has been earning her living by sheep farming for five years, which gives her a monthly profit of 10,000 CFA. She buys and resells her sheep in local markets. After two cycles of sheep farming without problems, she is asking RMCR for a loan to buy two small rams and quality livestock feed for fattening. She plans to sell her rams in the markets of big cities in order to earn a forecasted profit of 30,000 CFA. This will help her to pay for the education and medical expenses of her children.
