A loan of $250 helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.

Aminu's story

Aminu is a hardworking Babban Gona maize farmer from Layin Gabas village. Aminu lives in a modest mud house with his family.

Previously, despite toiling for long hours on his farm, Aminu was only able to feed his family two meals a day. Now that he is a Babban Gona member, Aminu can improve his yield and as a result feed his family, through access to high-quality inputs such as fertilizers, herbicides and better-yielding seeds.

As a Babban Gona member, Aminu will be provided with a full suite of the best inputs to optimize his farm and increase his yield up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare, twice the national average. Aminu will use the income generated from his maize sales this season to pay his children's school fees.

Reflecting on the great experience he has had with Babban Gona so far, Aminu is confident that with Babban Gona he will overcome poverty, securing a strong future for generations to come.
