A loan of $1,000 helped to pay for labor and buy agricultural inputs to plant 6 hectares of beans.

José Orlando's story

José is 56 years old. He did not have the opportunity to go to school. He is married and his wife is a homemaker. They have 10 children. Only four of their children live with them and they go to school.

All his life, José has made a living in agriculture. He learned this thanks to his parents. Now he plants 6 hectares of beans and one of corn on rented land that is 3 km from his house. His children help him with this work and he also pays for labor.

He needs a loan to pay for labor and buy agricultural inputs to plant 6 hectares of beans. His previous Kiva loan was also invested in agriculture and he is close to paying off the debt.

José dreams of continuing to work in agriculture. He hopes that the winter is good and that he will obtain a good harvest.
