A loan of $250 helped to buy fertilizers.

Walter's story

Walter is a young man, who is 21 years old. He lives in his parents’ house and is the third of 4 children. He is working to support his mother and younger siblings. He works in his parents’ fields and in other rented plots of land, with the goal of improving his quality of life. For him, cultivating crops requires a lot of responsibility, so he is dedicated to succeed and to have good harvests. For this, he takes care of his crops with a lot of dedication; he fertilizes his crops and removes the land every time it is necessary. To get to his crops, however, his biggest challenge is to obtain a truck to transport the sacks of potatoes, since getting to the largest market in the city takes him an hour, and he must pay 2 soles for each sack. Other than that, he is very happy with his work, since he shares his earnings with his parents and siblings and also because he can get what he needs for the next harvest. This is his first loan with MFP, and he is very motivated to get involved in his community bank, so he promises to comply with all of the rules and repayments. Also, he is very thankful to the person who invited him to be part of the group, and he has promised this person that he will not default on the loan. With the money that he is requesting, Walter plans to invest in the purchase of chemical fertilizers for his crops.
