A loan of $825 helped a member to purchase a solar light and increase maize cultivation.

Phanice's Group's story

Phanice is 56 years old and has eight children. She is a group leader and is representing her group formed by 14 farmers in Kimilili District, Kenya.

Phanice has been farming with One Acre Fund for years, having joined the program for the first time in 2011. This decision was largely as a result of her desire to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. Although she described her last harvest as poor due to bad weather conditions, she believes she could have a better one this year by continuing to work alongside One Acre Fund.

Phanice also decided to purchase a solar light as part of her loan, which she is very excited about, as it will allow her to reduce the consumption of paraffin fuel and save more money.

Obtaining this loan means that Phanice's Group will be able to receive a total of 4 solar lights, as well as farming inputs to plant a total of 7.25 acres.

In this group: Phanice, Christine, Antony, David, Juliet, Florance, George, Everlyne, Irene, Moses, Moses, James, Peter, Benard

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
